HEMLOCK UNROOTED
A Middle Grade Fantasy
Born from a hemlock tree, a 13 year old boy romps with his bear cub friend Huff and dutifully protects the Eldarwood Forest—until Grand Mentalist Lord Knox starts cutting it down.
Hemlock admires the Queenspeople with their knights and houses and gardens. But the missing Nowid—tree loving forest protectors—are even more intriguing. But no one knows where the Nowid went, or why, and Hemlock must sneak into the Vaults—the forbidden underground library the Nowid left behind to find answers about how to stop Lord Knox from clear-cutting the Eldarwood … or worse. From their first encounter, Knox uses Mentalism to inflict crippling fear on Hemlock. Through the terror of having his mind tampered with, Hemlock learns that Knox aims to overthrow the Child Queen Yarak by destroying the chestnut trees she’s bonded with and thereby shift the balance of power in Woodmoot to kings and men as it was in the beginning of the age.

"The book, HEMLOCK UNROOTED blew my mind AWAY!!!"

"I was deeply impressed by [HEMLOCK UNROOTED]. It is a very, very fine piece of work that resonates on many levels. The book works both as a compelling and interesting narrative, and as a thoughtful mythopoeic meditation on the universe."

And on another note, here's a FREE PDF of the ASHEVILLE URBAN TRAIL SCAVENGER HUNT, which I wrote for the Asheville Downtown Association. It's out of date at a couple stations, due to long overdue civil upheaval, but enjoy!

If you keep walking while remembering the destination, the destination will come to you by itself.
